When Jane Franklin walked into Theater Olpketal in October of 1989 she never dreamed she'd be there many years later! With melodies from arias still running through her head, she began her long musical comedy career in Dortmund, Germany singing songs about the people who live there, their soccer team and the city itself.
"I had to master the dialect quickly in order to play a gossipy neighbor, so I compared it to a thick Brooklyn accent and that seemed to do the trick", says Franklin. "Its not the only similarity between N.Y. and Dortmund that I've discovered through the years! People and politics are the same everywhere. But the bagels are better in Brooklyn."

Jane and the cast of "Dortmund Review" have been playing to sold-out houses four times a week for over 17 years and she still is having fun. "Hard to believe!" says Jane who knows how lucky she is to be involved with such a popular production.

Doesn't she get tired of doing the same performance night after night? "No! Not at all", says Jane. "For one thing, every time I go on stage, I'm a different character. The audience is new every night and their reactions are fresh for each performance. When they laugh, it's always fun for me, too."
